Now fully 24 years deep, the Mystic Cup’s attendees are generations-long, with locals who may have entered here back in the 1990s now returning with their partners and children to pass the flame along; a wonderful thing to see. Outside of the industry axis, the Mystic Cup has been building on all fronts steadily and this year, even with the additional seating and maximized usage of vantage points, it was still packed to the rafters for Sunday’s finals on the new course. They simply can’t get any more fans in; people scaled the very structural joists of the marquee itself to watch and whoop, eyes wide with anticipation. How many skate events can genuinely say that in 2018?
