We Are Blood Wows Skate Audience in World Premiere

prod_600

It’s been eight years since Travis Rice’s epic That’s It. That’s All redefined what a movie about snowboarding could be. The film, produced by Brain Farm Cinema and executive producer Curt Morgan, captured all the action, drama and beauty that snowboarding, the mountains and the characters contained within embodied in real life; featuring stunning HD resolution, dynamic editing and utterly complex, yet simply executed photography.

Fast forward to 2015 and Brain Farm has done it again. This time in the realm of skateboarding. Completing a two year project that starred venerable pro Paul Rodriguez, We Are Blood follows P-Rod and a cadre of rising stars around the world from Los Angeles, Barcelona, China and Dubai to explore new skate spots reconnect with old legends and showcase the lifestyle of skate as a tribe of like-minded enthusiasts that crosses gender, racial and cultural barriers.

In true Brain Farm fashion, the cinematography and audio, edited in full DOLBY, brings the heart-pounding intensity, and acutely technical execution of skateboarding to the big screen with dramatic delivery.

The man behind the lens however is lauded skate film director Ty Evans. A 20-year veteran of the field and highly respected, Evans achieved universal acclaim and a standing ovation upon the screening’s conclusion.

Over 1,500 skateboarding industry types packed the Ace Hotel Theatre in Downtown Los Angeles for the World Premiere hosted by Mountain Dew’s Green Label Films, X Dubai, Zumiez and the DEW Tour.

Legends were abound including Tony Hawk, Lance Mountain, Steve Cab, Jamie Thomas as well as countless more.

Though the film ran a bit longer than most felt it needed to (over an hour), the fast editing, stunning imagery, emotional narrative and banger action kept the crowd awake until the wrap and the rush to the after party.

We can only imagine that this raising of the bar in skateboarding media will help the sport and the industry connect better with each other and the masses. And with the lifeblood of skateboarding’s potential still untapped, We Are Blood’s profound effect has just begun to awaken skateboarding’s born-again soul.
